Louie’s Story

The older I get, the more I realise how much of an impact our environments growing up, and our experiences, have on us.

I was raised in inner city London to a Scottish-Irish family. My family life was a bit disjointed, and the education I had access to wasn’t the best.

As someone who suffers from dyslexia, I struggled with confidence when it came to the academic stuff. I left school as soon as I could, and learned the beginnings of a trade that I still use today.

I needed that outlet, because I was also surrounded by gangs and violence, and experienced the anger, fear and anxiety that came from it. Partying became a release, a space that I went to escape.

My twenties were rocky. I had some of the most incredible times of my life, travelling the world, spending time everywhere from Ibiza to India – but I began to notice a pattern of avoidance that had started to become a problem.

By the time I was 25, I was suffering from severe anxiety and depression, and at the age of 28, I had a breakdown.

Discovering Breathwork

At that point, I knew I needed help. I explored talking therapy, which laid the foundations of my cognitive understanding – in short, why I felt the way I did.

But I wanted more, to get to the root of all these issues. I explored meditation and tried plant medicines, which had started to have an impact, but I still felt I wanted to go deeper. I attended a session, and I experienced a deep and profound trauma release. It left a lasting impression on me.

When I first looked into breathwork, I was sceptical. It wasn’t a familiar world; I wasn’t sure I’d get it, or get into it. Thankfully, I put my reservations to one side.

Becoming a Coach

From there, my breathwork journey started, and I spent more time exploring the craft and what it could do for me.

Now, after a number of years’ work, I can feel a deeper understanding and connection to myself.

After taking an in-depth training course, and attending a number of coaching retreats – which involved a lot of deep-rooted self-discovery and healing – I’m now fully qualified in facilitating conscious connected breathwork.

My focus is working with people on their own journeys towards greater wellbeing, self-discovery and personal growth, all through the power of their breath.
